Botulinum toxin is a prescription only treatment used to relax the muscles of the face, primarily to treat the lines and wrinkles of the forehead, between the eyebrows, and crow’s feet.
Treatment is relatively painless, and should begin to take effect in 3-4 days, lasting 4-6 months in most cases. Any follow-up treatment is included in the quoted price. It has decades of research advocating its safety and efficacy, but should only be administered by doctors, dentists and nurse prescribers.
Hyaluronic acid, or collagen, exists naturally in the skin. A synthetic form, produced by industry leading suppliers, can be used to restore loss of volume on the face which is associated with the natural ageing process. It can also be used in younger patients to enhance the contours of the face, shape and define the lips, balancing the lip ratio for optimum results.
No two faces are the same, so treatments are entirely dependent on your individual needs, and may take time to build up to the desired effect. When it comes to hyaluronic acid facial augmentation less is more. Swelling and bruising following any facial augmentation is completely normal, but should settle within 48h, and results should last for around 12 months.
